The aim of this article is to provide a scientific analysis of the nature, structure and parameters of the global market’s resource potential within the context of an asymmetric global economy, as well as to identify key trends in its transformation and avenues for its balanced utilisation. The relevance of the study stems from the increasing inequality of access to resources, the growth of geo-economic fragmentation, digital differentiation and structural imbalances in the global economy, which necessitates a re-evaluation of the role of resource potential as the foundation for the functioning and development of the modern global market.
This article presents a comprehensive study of the global market as a multi-level system for the exchange of goods, services, capital, technology, information and strategic resources. It is argued that the resource potential of the global market should be viewed not only as the aggregate of natural, raw material, energy, food, labour, financial and digital-technological resources, but also as the capacity of the global economic system to ensure their mobilisation, redistribution, processing and utilisation within global value chains. The main manifestations of asymmetry have been identified, including the concentration of control over critical resources, unequal access to digital technologies, the dependence of energy systems on fossil fuels, and the intensification of trade imbalances.
The study has systematised the components of the global market’s resource potential and identified key areas for its balanced utilisation, including the diversification of resource supply, the development of circular economic models, the expansion of digital inclusion, the strengthening of food security, and the improvement of multilateral regulatory mechanisms. It has been demonstrated that the effective utilisation of resource potential is a key prerequisite for enhancing the resilience of the global market in the context of global transformations. Prospects for further research relate to the development of an integrated index of the global market’s resource potential, which will combine indicators of resource availability, technological capacity, institutional access, logistical resilience and digital inclusion, as well as to the modelling of global market development scenarios in the context of increasing geo-economic fragmentation.
